Hopefully someone here or one of the Polylang developers can help me.
I've been looking for a multilingual ready plugin to show a message to conform to the EU cookie law. The only one I found where I could set the text in all languages and was visually attractive is EU Cookie Law Compliance by Zafrira (link to plugin page) Problem is that on the front-end it always shows the message in the default language. Before you tell me to ask them I like to add that they haven't responded to a support question for over a year, their website only shows "not available" and the plugin was last updated on 23-11-2012. So that's why I'm posing my question here and I hope somebody over here can help me.
One more important thing about that cookie compliance plugin is that it shows as supporting Polylang 0.9.4 which is a version from a long time ago.
As a newbie WordPress user and with my very limited knowledge of php I already looked at the code myself. My conclusion is that the cookie compliance plugin tries to retrieve the current language before Polylang does its thing.
My blog can be found by following this link if you want to see it in action.
The version of EU Cookie Law Compliance I use is 1.1.4.
The version of Polylang I use is 1.3.1.
In WP the permalinks setting I use is "Month and name" and I do not use a static page as the front-page.
My Polylang settings are:
- Languagges nl_NL and en_US (the latter is the default)
- Detect browser lang is active
- URL Modification set to "The language is set from content" and "Remove /language/ in pretty permalinks"
- Activate languages and translations for media is active
Hopefully someone here or one of the Polylang developers can help me.
Thanx in advance!
