After playing around what made it work for me was as follows:
- permalinks settings - Post name
- activate slider and/or home icons in virtue options
then the following sequence should be followed:
1. polylang - string translations - do your translations, then save
2. polyland - settings/URL modifications - select: "The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks" and "Remove /language/ in pretty permalinks"; then save.
This worked for me. I guess it had to do with the permalinks but it looks it was from the way they are set in the polylang plugin.
Thank you Kadence Themes for your helpt even if it was not to do with the theme.
It seems multilangual sites are one of the serious drawback of WP and this is what I wrote to them in the recent survey.
