I'm running Wordpress 4.01, with this template: http://themeforest.net/item/sarkkara-responsive-real-estate-html5-template/6750195
The new Wordpress update does not force the site to the homepage any more (I don't see the option any more in the Polylang settings).
As a result the only way the language switcher works, is on the homepage.
In any other case you need 2 extra page loads to have the translation in effect.
in my opinion, it is not compatible.
