Post category selection: not all languages appear

Hello all,

I have a bilingual website. English/Tibetan. I use Polylang for the translations.

Now i have an issue with WP User Frontend. In my Post Form, the user can select the category of the post.
In the settings of the form, i have selected all the categories, both the Tibetan categories and the English categories. So that the user can chose whether his post should appear on the Tibetan part of the website or on the English one.

The problem is that once i test the form on the frontend, only the Tibetan categories appear as an option (Tibetan is the default language of the site). The English categories don’t appear.
How should i show all te categories?
As said, in the settings, the categories of both languages appear, and i have selected them all.

Polylang – Flag in header redirects to wrong page

On my website I installed Polylang (free version) and I use 5 languages. For every language I made a menu, connecting to pages in different languages.

So far all good.

Now I start at my home page (English)

http://www.theprojectcircle.com/?page_id=147 (Permalink generated by WP)

I click on the UK flag in header, to select the Dutch language.

The page http://www.theprojectcircle.com/?lang=nl opens

It doesn’t show the Dutch home page but just an un-formatted header.

If here I click on the home button, I go to the Dutch, complete functional website with link

How do I change my links to make it work correctly? I am aware there are other (related) topics on this issue but not understandable to me.

Problem with Additional info field translation

Hi, with the last update, this plugin is multilingual for all element in front end, but one field: Additional info.

The text to traslate is: “To use this website, you accepted our Privacy Policy. If you wish to withdraw your acceptance, please use the “Delete my data” button below.”

I’m using Polylang and I have tried to put text translated inside this field changing the language at the top, in the admin bar, but the plugin doesn’t store the traslation.

i have searched for this text string in the .po file but obioubsly there isn’t.

How can I traslate that text field?

Flag icon misaligned with the primary navigation bar

I’ve searched for ages and tried different codes but couldn’t fix this. I’m using the Flash theme from ThemeGrill. The flag icon in the navigation bar is misaligned.

Polylang flag misaligned with the navigation bar

I’ve searched for ages and tried different codes but couldn’t fix this. I’m using the Flash theme from ThemeGrill. The flag icon of the multilanguage Polylang plugin in the navigation bar is misaligned.

How do I remove the white border around the flags?

The flags on my website are surrounded by a white kind of border, but I can’t remove that with css. What is causing that white space?
I currently have included in my style.css:

Plugin translation in Polylang

Hi,
I use Cookie Notice in Polish and I also have English version of my blog, I use Polylang. I’ve tried to translate texts in Cookie Notice plugin, I have all texts in group Cookie Notice, but when I try to translate them, after clicking “Save” English translations disappear. I’m not sure if this is Polylang plugin problem or yours. Any recommendations?

Multidomain site redirecting loop

Hi,

We have 2 domains:
http://newswise.ca/main = english
http://actufute.ca/accueil/ = french

english site is working fine.
but the french site is giving a too many redirects error.

If I understood correctly, I just need to point the addon domain to the main root right?

Mesmerize Pro with Polylang, HomePage issue

Hello,

I needed to make my site into 2 languages, and so updated to the Pro version as I was told I needed Pro to do multilang. I then installed Polylang and added languages. But when I added the languages, the hobme page basically disappeared. I try to add a Front Page Header Design but nothing happens. I can’t seem to add sections because there is a blue button that says – Activate Mesmerize Pro Top Page – but when I click it nothing happens. Not quite sure what I am doing wrong.

Secondary Title doesn’t work well with Divi Builder+Polylang

Hi! I am writing you to ask for help with a couple of issues; your plugin was already sometimes finicky with Divi Builder (if you activate said builder before adding the secondary title, the input field for it goes away and won’t reappear unless you delete the post and create a new one from scratch), but at least if you add the secondary title before activating the Divi Builder, the secondary title will be added to the database and display just fine.

However, after adding Polylang to the mix, secondary titles will never display in the secondary language (not by default, at least), even if it does get added to the database. However, the Secondary Title input field will never reappear in the translated post editing page, whereas it does appear on the original one. I may try fiddling with default post/category layouts and manually add secondary titles if I absolutely have to, but I’d rather not.

Can you help me out with this, and maybe make Secondary Title play nicer by default with the ever-so-popular Divi and Polylang plugins? I know that, as per the WP support forum guidelines, I am not supposed to ask for support regarding premium themes and plugins, and if it’s either/both Divi’s or/and Polylang’s fault yours isn’t working properly, please excuse me in advance (I will also contact elegant themes support on this issue, obviously).

By the way, for comparison’s sake, here’s the URL to the original, Portuguese version of the same page:

As you can see, something’s amiss, as the secondary title (which I edited to have the same formatting as the titles on the other pages) is completely gone and the title took its place (don’t mind the meta line, btw, as I’m indeed supposed to manually remove that one later on by editing the corresponding .php code). Also, I should add that WP and all my plugins are properly updated to their latest versions, so that can’t be the cause of this bug.

Posts are not translated or disappear

Hi,

I am using Polylang in combination with ACF.
I added a language switcher in the menu. When changing from EN to NL, the menu is translated. The posts stay in English, some even disappear.

In the backend, each post is translated.
In Languages > Settings > Synchronization > Custom Fields is unchecked.

It’s unexplainable to me, what went wrong. Any help?

Conflict with Polylang

Worked fine on one website for me and wanted to us it on the others.
Second website I installed that plugin to had Polylang installed and apparently the plugin is in conflict with it – it’s not using any of the parameters set in the backend, only color, logo etc.
Please fix, I really would like to use it on all of my websites!

Polylang: Cannot modify header information (class.wp-styles.php:225)

Hello WordPress Developers,

I’m not able to fix a problem with Polylang plugin.
After activation Polylang plugin I receive an error:

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at C:\xampp\htdocs\my-project\wp-includes\class.wp-styles.php:225) in C:\xampp\htdocs\my-theme\wp-includes\pluggable.php on line 1216

I have checked my theme in terms of empty lines at the very end of php files (including wp-config.php), but no results. Morover, I have tested previous versions of polylang but still not working.

Would you mind any ideas how to fix it or at least are you able to recommend a nice free plugin to translate wordpress site (Custom Post Type translations are required)?

My WordPress version is: 4.9.6
Installed plugins: Akisment, Hello Dolly, CF7 and… Polylang
PHP Ver: 7.1.8

homepage vanished

Hello,
I am actually a novice in wordpress, I have installed Polylang but there is a problem:

I would like to use Polylang to translate a website but when I add a langage in the settings, almost all the homepage is displayed. We can only see the bottom of the page (the contact info and other stuff..).
When I disable Polylang, everything return to normal.
What can I do to make it work?

Home page displays everything in the site

Hi, I have a site in Swedish with several pages, and I have translated the home page to English. When I display it using the URL http://localhost/wordpress/en/home it looks fine, but when I click on the English flag in the menu the URL becomes http://localhost/wordpress/en/, and then the home page in English is displayed, followed by the contents of all the other pages in Swedish. Only the home page is translateed so far.

I have created the English home page with the plugin Duplicate Page, then changed the text to English, and I am using Divi for the site. I have tried all the different settings in Polylang, but to no avail. The home pages are both titled Start, and the permalinks are start and home respectively.

What, if anything, am I doing wrong?

Discourage temporarily google bots from crawling /en/ version of the site

Hello,

is there a way to discourage google bots from crawling the English part of the site (it’s the secondary language and it isn’t implemented yet)… Without removing it (the structure is already there). Now the first indexed page is the English homepage.

Should be done from polylang options, .httacces or robots.txt?

Home Slider edit option hidden

Hello, I’ve been using Polylang on my multilingual website for a while and I’ve noticed one bug. I use Ruby Theme (from ThemeForest) which has a Home Slider implemented to show featured content.

It works well with Polylang, I can translate it and everything, but when I want to edit the original content (what is shown, change the picture) I have to Deactivate Polylang first. Editing goes through Appearance – Customise and then between Custom CSS and Additional CSS is the Home Slider tab. The placement is important because Polylang isn’t blocking the option, but just hiding it for some reason. The Home Slider tab is still in the HTML code but I can’t access it.

Unfortunately, I’ve just come back to working on the site as a tech support after a year’s break and others didn’t report it. But I know that Polylang didn’t have a problem with Home Slider back then, so it had to be one of the updates that has hidden the edit option.

Polylang and Loco compatible

Hello, i liked your plug in a lot, i think is the most useful cookie plug in i tried.

I have 3 problems:

  • I cant translate the text and the checkboxes via loco or poly
  • If i choose a specific page for cookie policy page, when i change language i cant see the link of the page in the other language
  • If i check the Block Google Tag Manager checkbox not all cookies are disabled, it would be a perfect scenario to scan and find all cookies and disable them all.

Also it would be great to add html tags i the main text box.

Lightbox plugin compatible with Polylang and tiled galleries

Hey, I’m looking for a plugin that is compatible with Polylang and tiled galleries and can display captions.

Polylang: I was using Responsive Lightbox by dFactory, but it displays only captions in one language even though I translated them (to be more specific, the free version of Polylang somehow duplicates the images, the URL stays the same).
So when I upload the images in language #1, the captions with this plugins are only in language #1 even tho the language of the post is language #2. The same applies when I upload the images in language #2 first – the images in the post written in language #1 will have captions in language #2.
When I tried Jetpack carousel, it worked fine, but Jetpack can’t open single images in posts, only photos in galleries. Let me know if I’m wrong and how to set it up.

Tiled galleries: Not sure what happened, but a lot of lightbox plugins doesn’t work with tiled galleries, the images are being opened as a full res image on its own page (…/photo.jpg). It used to work with Responsive Lightbox by dFactory, but not anymore.

I will be happy for any recommendation or help with solving the problems described above.
