Hi,
thanks for the great plugin.
While enabling Enable privacy policy link the special text for “The text of the privacy policy button.” isn’t showing under languages of Polylang and therefore cannot be changed for other languages.

Hello, I thought I changed the default language by going to languages and assigning the “star” to my English language. However, when people type in my site in the address bar it takes them to the Spanish version. How can I change that?
I’m building a website with many tables which contain technical information of products. The tables’ field names represents data such as size, weight, etc.
I wish to use the same actual table for each language, where only the table’s header line (the first line of the table containing the actual titles or field names) is changed based upon the current selected language.
The alternative is to create separate table for each product’s page, which consumes a lot of space and also doubles my work, and I wish to avoid such a case.
I use Polylang to manage my site’s languages, and so far this is the last obstacle I have encountered.
Is there any reasonable solution to such a scenario?
Hey folks.
I saw the Media File Renamer is compatible with WPML. I’m wonderin if it is also compatible with Polylang? If so, how does it work, when I set the media title in different languages but use always the same file(name)?
Thank you for a short explanation.
Cheers.
Hi!
I am trying to translate categories between swedish and english. The categories are: “storybook” for english, and its swedish translation is “samlade berättelse”(slug = storybook-2).
However, no matter how I configure the categories, the swedish category page remains blank.
Also, if I try to manually add click the category “storybook-2” in each post, I can’t because the category doesn’t even appear. You can see here: https://ibb.co/h1wmny
Does anybody have suggestions?
Hey,
the README includes a mention of “Compatible with multi-lingual sites using Polylang or WPML to allow all languages to be indexed equally.” but does not go much into detail. I use polylang and have german and english content under mywebsite.org/de/… and mywebsite.org/en/…
Does the above mean that the following guidelines by Google are supported: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/2620865?hl=en
Also I read a few times that a separate sitemap.xml should be submitted for each language. Then again I read that this is only true if each language has it’s own (sub)domain, e.g. de.mywebsite.org/… and enmywebsite.org/… instead of mywebsite.org/de/… and mywebsite.org/en/… What’s true? Does ‘XML Sitemap & Google News feeds’ handle this?
If you have any other considerations for using this plugin with Polylang let me know. I hope to get my hands dirty on this in a few days, but would better get the basics straigt before jumping into it.
Kind regards and Thank you!
Hi,
I have a problem with how WPS Hide Login co-exists with Polylang language plugin. When both are enabled, you can’t logout from the second language because WPS Hide Login tries to change the logout address to match whatever new login address you’ve inputted into WPS Hide Login.
ANy suggestions? I really like how WPS Hide Login stops the constant bot login attempts, but my customers need to be able to log out!
Hi!
Polylang plugin has been used to create the English version. I don’t know the reason why the site tranlated into English is shown in bold text. All the pages are in bold text. As you can check, Spanish version only contains some words highlighted by using that style.
I have tested several ways to try to solve it, but without success. For example:
– creating every English version page from scratch and then associated by the corresponding option given by Polylang in the page.
– creating the English version directly in the Spanish page by clicking the pencil icon to generate the corresponding English page.
– creating the English version through the Duplicator Post plugin, and then associating that page with its correspoding Spanish one.
Do you kwow how can I do, please?
We use Polylang. You can read up on how Polylang handles images:
https://polylang.pro/doc/working-with-media/
Note that, when you translate a media, the file is not duplicated. The goal of the media translation is only to translate the text (title, alternative text, description…) attached to the media.
This is what we are using in https://polylang.pro/doc/working-with-media/#need-to-translate-media in order to only translate the metadata of an image, that is, the description or alt-text. But the image file is always the same.
So you have two content IDs (one for english, and say, one for french, etc) for media with different description, title or alt-text and both point to the same image file (URL).
Now what does Shortpixel do: It processes both content IDs. That is, the file is processed twice — that is for *all* thumbnails.
Seems like Shortpixel does not really play well with Polylang here. (not sure about wpml, if it is different there).
Is this a Polylang or more of a ShortPixel bug?
Hello,
I need to translate this website and I would like to use Polylang.
The website is built with OceanWP and Elementor. The header and footer are customised. Two questions come into my mind:
1. Does Polylang work well with the above theme?
2. How can I show the possibility to change languages?
Thanks for your help!
Hello!
I wish to use this plugin in a wordpress website that uses Polilang plugin.
How can I separate citations for each language?
I was using another plugin that put citations in groups and then I was using that groups.
I wish to change and use your plugin
Thank you
I am using WordPress 4.9.6 running Jevelin theme Version: 3.0.3 and the Polylang plugin Version 2.3.7. It worked with no problems with many posts and categories. Since yesterday I am unable to use Polylang anymore ONLY in my Front Page
The workflow is: as usual, I create a post in the first language, then the pair in second language, both using the jevelin visual page builder. I check the post everything is Ok. Then if I link the two post with Polylang (e,g. from the post in the first language) the post in the second language becomes empty. If I open with “edit” the post in the second language, it is actually empty in the editor. Tried with many new posts with no success. I can recover the content from the post revisions but when I update, the same “empty issue” appears in the post in the other language.
I need your help

I have a WordPress site with Ironfit theme. I installed Polylang plugin and I see I can translate pages and posts but don’t know how to manage Services in different languages. Is it possible to do it with Polylang? If so, how could I do?
Thanks for your attention.
Getting error “Impossible to add the language.”
I have Piklist installed, could this be conflicting with Polylang?
I installed Polylang after installing Piklist, and adding a language I am getting the error: “Impossible to add the language.” Could this be the reason it is not working? Or art the two plugins not compatible with each other?
I am not set on using Polylang, because it looks like Piklist can provide me with what I need to filter and organize posts.
Hello,
I recently created a WordPress website for a client and installed the Polylang plugin. But now I’m having an issue with the site title. It contains an ampersand: ‘Van Kelst & Co’. In the Google search results I only see ‘Van Kelst’. The part ‘& Co’ is missing and I think it is caused by the string translation of the site title. The ‘&’ is automatically transformed into the html equivalent ‘&’ which apparently does not get picked-up by Google.
Is there a way to disable the html transformation of the ampersand?
Or is there another solution to this problem?
Kind regard,
Jef
Hey,
seems like varnish-http-purge does not support Polylang. At least the to-be-purged URLs are not the ones that Polylang generates (it uses prefixes for languages like /en/feed/ instead of /feed/; or /de/comments/feed instead of /comments/feed, same for the author’s URL).
It works for the actual URL. That is, if I edit /de/mypage/ then /de/mypage/ will be correct in the to-be-purged URLs. But all “related” URLs are not included (link to author’s list, RSS, RDF feeds and so on — these all miss the /de/ or /en/ language prefix).
I am not sure how the list of to-be-purged URLs is generated.
Probably some code as described at https://polylang.pro/doc/function-reference/ would need to be used instead.
Hey guys,
I’m using Polylang and it’s working great with only one little exception.
Currently i’m trying to to translate my footer and the part where i used widgets worked fine.
For the second part of the footer (used Design->Customizer for that): I got no clue how to translate that.
Can you guys help me with that?
Cheers,
Nicolas
Hi there,
first of all thank you for the awesome plugin.
Unfortunately it somehow doesn’t work correctly on my page.
When I open the site in an uncached browser the site doesn’t always appear in german (which is set as default) but in english.
I’m struggling to find a solution especially because it sometimes works as expected.
WordPress is installed on a NGINX Server if that could be of any help.
Did anyone have the same problem? Thanks for your answer!
